Move On When Ready (MOWR) is for students at eligible high schools that wish to take college level coursework for credit towards both high school and college graduation requirements.

 

Listed below are Clayton State University and Atlanta Technical College and their respective requirements to participate in the program.

The Dual Enrollment (Move On When Ready) Program at Clayton State University offers qualified high school students the option to begin working toward their college degrees while still pursuing their high school diplomas. This program enables participants to fulfill high school graduation requirements by taking college courses that provide dual credit, so they simultaneously complete high school course requirements.

 

Clayton State University has implemented one of the most distinct Dual Enrollment Programs in the State of Georgia. It’s student-centered, family-friendly, and maintains a collaborative partnership with the surrounding school systems, private educational organizations, and communities.

 

Program Requirements

Test Score Requirements:

  • Minimum SAT score of 970 (combined Critical Reading and Math) with at least 430 Critical Reading and 430 Math
    OR

  • Minimum ACT Composite score of 20 with at least 17 English and 17 Math

Additional Requirements:

  • Successful completion of the 9th grade is required to enroll in Clayton State University as a high school student.

  • A minimum cumulative high school grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 in academic subjects as calculated by the institution for admission purposes.

  • Students must be on-track towards the completion of the USG Required High School Curriculum (RHSC) and high school graduation requirements.

  • Students applying to participate in the Move on When Ready (MOWR) program must submit a completed parent/guardian and high MOWR Student Participation Agreement signed by the student, school counselor. If the student is not applying to MOWR, written consent of his or her parent/guardian must be submitted.

  • All students must satisfy the immunization requirements prior to the first day of classes.

 

Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) Policy
MOWR students are required to maintain a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA and must successfully complete a minimum of 67% of the cumulative credit hours attempted (cumulative earned hours/cumulative attempted hours). Grades of F, W, WF, W$, U, U%, IP, IP%, I, and NR do not indicate successfully completed courses. Students who are not meeting SAP because of completion ratio and/or cumulative GPA are allowed to receive financial aid for one term with a status of WARNING. Students are notified by email when they are placed in a WARNING status and no appeal is necessary to receive aid for this status. Students must meet the SAP requirements at the end of their next term of enrollment or lose MOWR funding eligibility. http://www.clayton.edu/financial-aid/SAP

Step by Step Application Instructions

Submit the following:

  1. Clayton State University Application
    Note: Home School Applicants from accredited home school programs are processed and held to the same admission standards as all other applicants. Applicants who have not completed an accredited home school program must apply using the portfolio method. View the Home School Portfolio Method

  2. Official high school transcript that reflects 1 full year of high school academics

  3. Submit test scores electronically

    • Submit ACT scores through ACT

    • Submit SAT scores through College Board

    • Request any AP/ IB scores (if applicable)

      Note: The Clayton State University Testing Center also provides SAT and ACT in-house exams. Scores are only for admission purposes and therefore are not shared with other Universities.

The Move On When Ready program at Atlanta Technical College provides an opportunity for students to dual enroll at a participating eligible public or private high school, or home school program in Georgia, and Atlanta Tech. Students take coursework at Atlanta Technical College for credit towards both high school graduation or home study completion and postsecondary requirements. Students must have approval from their high school guidance counselor and their parents to participate.

 

 

The program is offered during all academic semesters " Fall, Spring, and Summer.

The Georgia Student Finance Commission requires that a MOWR High School/Home Study Program Participation Agreement be on file for each high school/home study program in order for students from that high school/home study program to participate in the MOWR program. What Is Required For Admission?

  • Current student enrolled in an eligible public or private high school (or home school program) in Georgia.

  • Minimum SAT, ACT, ASSET or COMPASS placement test scores.

  • Move on When Ready/Dual Enrollmentadmissions application.

  • Move on When Ready/Dual EnrollmentStudent Participation Agreement(must be signed by high school counselor and parent/guardian).

 

Enrollment Steps

Step 1: Submit qualifying SAT, ACT , or ASSET test scores to Atlanta Tech or take the Compass placement test (contact hsadmissions@atlantatech.edu for details).

Step 2: Complete the MOWR admissions application.

Step 3: Meet with your high school counselor and parent/guardian to complete the Move on When Ready Student Participation Agreement.

Step 4: Scan and email the completed MOWR admissions application and student participation form to or drop it off at the Atlanta Technical College Office of Admissions located at 1560 Metropolitan Parkway, SW, Atlanta, Georgia, 30310.

Step 5: Login in or set up a GAfutures account at www.gafutures.org, and complete the MOWR (financial aid) application online.

Step 6: Receive acceptance letter/email.

Step 7: Attend orientation and registration session (information for scheduling will be disseminated upon acceptance).

Articulation

High school students can obtain articulated credit for classes taken while in high school that were taught be the high school instructor. Students have to take the appropriate course, meet the eligibility requirements and pass the college examination.
